Can't open file:

The most common reason some “can't open file” type messages appear when attempting a company backup, is that some of the company database files are marked “in use” at the Windows Operating system level and therefore could not be backed up.

C21 goes through a company deselection process before it starts the backup. Under normal conditions, that causes all files to be closed. However, if something abnormal happened previously preventing C21 from doing a normal shutdown of a company, then the company files can get “stuck” in this “in use” state, so to speak. In this type of situation you need to restart your computer, not just the C21 program, and the computer where the company data is located(if on another computer.)
