Copying the directory to an off-site location

Can I copy the directory (copy and paste) to another off-site location as a backup and then re-connect it at a later date if a problem were to occur?

Yes, you can copy some backup instance of the company folder structure to the normal location used to access the data in C21 and that will effect a company restore. At present, there is no concept of any special “attach” operation to cause C21 to recognize the company. We do however recommend that you delete the “active” company data folder before copying the backup folder into place. It is safer not to risk the mixing of different file sets.

We do encourage our users to backup their data, and often. To this end we have provided an embedded backup/restore function that we feel is easy to use and understands company data location and structure, etc. However, if you prefer a different backup program, or even a manual copy/paste procedure, that can work. We would encourage you to verify that whatever procedure you use works. Do some test backup/restore.
