Upgrading Existing C21 Installations - Single User

Note: If you are upgrading the C21 data engine of an existing computer, you must remove all earlier versions of Pervasive before installing this new version. You do not need to remove C21.
  1. Use the Add/Remove Programs list in the Control Panel. to uninstall any Pervasive installations, including "Pervasive SQL 2000i" from your computer. Once Pervasive has been uninstalled, there may be a few items left behind that need to be removed before you can install the new Pervasive data engine.
  2. To begin, do a full system search for a file called "W3BTRV7.DLL"  and delete all instances of it.
  3. After that has been completed, look on the root of C:/ for folders called "PVSW" and "PVSWARCH". If they exist, delete those as well
  4. Then, open the Windows Registry Editor, by typing “Regedit” into the Windows Search box from the Start button. In the Registry editor, expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE folder and look for a folder for Pervasive Software. Delete the entire folder.
  5. Once this process has been completed, insert the 21st Century Accounting CD into your CD drive. A startup screen appears automatically. Close or cancel this window.
  6. Open My Computer and right-click the CD drive icon. Choose “Explore” or “Open”.

  7. Open the PVSW/Bin folder. Find and right-click the file called “SetupWorkgroup_x86.exe” and choose “Run as administrator…”.
  8. Proceed with the Pervasive installation wizard.
  9. After the program installs, you must enter the Pervasive License Key exactly as it is shown. Click Apply License Key.
  10. When the installation of Pervasive PSQL data engine is complete, remove the CD. You have finished upgrading your data engine.
