Electronic Filing W-2s Merge Files

Use the Payroll/Electronic Filing/Merge W-2 Files command to merge multiple W-2 files into a single file ready to submit to the tax authority. 

First prepare the individual companies by running the Payroll/Electronic Filing/W-2s command on them. Then run Merge W-2 Files. The file in the Target box should be the first electronic W-2s file you created, named “W2REPORT_<year>.fed” or W2REPORT_<year>.<state abbreviation>”. Add the remaining multiple W-2 files to the Select files box, and click OK to start the merge process.

The system produces a single file that contains the data for the companies you merged in the format required for submission to the tax authority.
