21st Century Accounting Help - Receivables/Configure

Tax Groups

In Receivables/Configure/Tax Groups, you set up sales taxes that are applicable to the products and services you sell.  In Configure/Customers, you enter a tax group to associate with a customer for automatic display when you enter invoices for the customer.  You can change the tax group when you enter an invoice.

When Tax Authorities overlap (when, for example, sales tax is collected by the state, the county, and the city on certain items), use Recievables/Configure/Tax Groups to collect the authorities into a group for calculation of the tax on invoices. You can associate a sales tax group with a customer in Receivables/Configure/Customers. The customer's tax group is displayed and used to calculate the sales tax on the customer's invoice. You can also select the sales tax group when you enter an invoice.

Any sales tax calculated on the taxable invoice amount is posted to the authorities in the tax group defaulted from the customer configuration or selected for use on the invoice.
