Issuing and Applying a Credit Memo to an outstanding invoice

1. In Sales/ Invoices, select Credit Memo/Return as the Trans. Type.
2. Select the Customer you will be issuing a credit memo for.
3. If you would like to apply this credit memo to an outstanding invoice, enter the invoice number in the Apply to box.
4. In the Invoice number box, enter the original invoice number followed by RET or CRE.
5. In the Invoice Details section, enter the Item ID for the item being returned.
6. Tab through to the Payment Section. Leave this section blank. The negative amount will automatically be entered.
7. Enter a reason for return in the description box.
8. Once this invoice has posted, the credit will be applied to the outstanding invoice.
