How to track CA ETT (Employment Training Tax)

21st Century Payroll doesn’t maintain CA ETT as a system tax which is included with our tax updates. If your business is subject to this tax, you need to define this tax yourself. To set up this tax you will set up a User Tax and maintain any changes to it. This is easily done, one time. Then it can be automatically assigned to your employees and otherwise treated the same as other system maintained taxes.

1. Click on Payroll/Configure/Tax Calculations.
2. Click on <new> at the bottom of the selector list.
3. Enter Percent of taxable earnings for Employer contribution method.
4. Click on Options.
5. Fill in the fields as shown (the percent and ceiling are correct for 2012).
6. Click OK.
7. Go to Payroll/Configure/Taxes to set up the GL accounts and earnings information.
8. You can now assign this tax to your employees.
